The Dream Songs


Six weeks: 7-9pm, Mondays, October 6--November 10

More often praised and misunderstood than read, John Berryman's The Dream Songs represent one of the great extended works of mid-century American poetry. Through close readings of many of its pivotal poems, this six-week course will investigate how the The Dream Songs work and speak to one another. The course will also include discussions and presentations on Berryman's themes, sources, and place in the tradition. Berrymaniacs Jonathan Weinert and Mike Perrow will preside.
