SNUBBLES
Snubbles was named by our son, Ian on the way back in the car from the place we got her. She was given up, we were told, because she wouldn't hunt in Virginia. She was described as a "beagle/hound," and we accepted that until she got very long in the legs. Then Joan found some dog pictures on the internet and Snubby was the spittin' image of an American fox hound, which makes more sense -- not so tall as an English one, but same shape and coloring, and similar steeplechasing through the woods. Squirrels seem to be a good substitute for foxes, which are scarce around here; she goes after squirrels like a shot but she doen't know what to do when she catches up with one, so she tags along, looks kind of disappointed when the squirrel opts for the safety of a tree.
We tried to find out from Ian where the name came from but he didn't tell us. His muse, I guess. Snubby has almost nothing to do with the Concord Poetry center. I stand corrected. Ian says he told me that the name was that of a character in a video game.
